Tallahassee, Fla. (AP) — Florida State University’s standout defensive end Jared Verse, a prospective first-round pick in the NFL Draft, announced Saturday that he will be staying for one more season.

After two excellent seasons with Albany in the Football Championship subdivision, Bath has become the most coveted player on the NCAA Transfer Portal in 2022. He landed in Tallahassee and Power proved that he could play at his five level.

Despite missing one game due to injury and being restricted in several others, he made his first-team debut after leading Florida State with 14 1/2 tackles, including 7 1/2 sacks. All-Atlantic Conference honors.

He will join quarterback Jordan Travis, top rusher Trey Benson and top receiver Johnny Wilson under coach Mike Nobel. This could make the Seminoles (10-3) a potential title contender for him in 2023.

“Of course money is a big factor. But my biggest factor was, ‘What can we do better?'” Verse told ESPN after announcing the decision. “I just look at myself and say, ‘OK, every day I still have a lot to improve. I still have a lot to improve.

“I did what was best for me. The best thing for me was to come back and compete with the team.”
