The Cincinnati Bengals had a long-term outlook in mind in the 2022 NFL Draft.

In their Super Bowl appearance, the Bengals had two secondary hits in the first two rounds along with Dax Hill and Cam Taylor Britt.

The Brits were thrown into action after Chidobe Ouzy’s season-ending injury, while Hill played sparingly in the emergency.

As such, the draft class doesn’t exactly chart in terms of productivity compared to most of the league’s draft classes this year.

At ESPN, Aaron Schatz and Alex Vigderman teamed up to measure the productivity of each rookie class as they constructed their assessments. The Bengals finished his 30th.

“First-round safety Dax Hill had a mostly redshirt year, playing six or more defensive snaps in only two games. Second-round cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt. was a late-season nickelback, but allowed 8.5 yards per target and has not performed well on the SIS charts.4th-round Cordell Volson entered the lineup at left guard and started the entire season. However, he ranks only 58th among 64 qualifying guards in pass rush winning percentage.

As mentioned above, there is one major exception. His Cordell Volson in the fourth round was a bit of a revelation for a team that has been a starter at left guard since Day 1 and could be a long-term starter. Third-rounder Zach Carter is also starting to show his true potential as a rotation pass rusher.

If the Bengals get two solid secondary starters, an offensive line starter and a solid rotation contributor, in time from the 2022 draft class, the class doesn’t rank near the top in immediate productivity. Even they hardly care.
