Despite the change of opponent, Efe Ajagba is ready to take over the heavyweight division. Ajagba will face Stephen Shaw on 14 January.
The fight will take place inside the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York. Ajagba was to fight Oscar Rivas, who had to withdraw due to injury.
“Stephen Shaw has stepped up and has a tough assignment against one of the division’s biggest punchers in Efe Ajagba,” said Bob Arum of Top Rank. “We are delighted to have Guido in the card against a formidable opponent in Johnny Rice.
A 2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, Ajagba made his professional debut in 2017. The fight he lost by unanimous decision was for the WBC Continental Americas and his WBO-NABO heavyweight title.

Ajagba rebounded in the final game of August, defeating Joseph Dalmos by TKO.
A four-time national champion amateur, Shaw made his professional debut in 2013. The show’s final match was Rydell’s victory over his booker at Unanimous in his decision in November.
