Dmitry Bivol has revealed that his ultimate goal is to become the undisputed light heavyweight champion of the world, not a rematch with Saul Canelo Alvarez.

The Russian retained the WBA light heavyweight title with a unanimous points decision victory over challenger Gilberto Ramirez last September.

That came after he shocked the former pound-for-pound king at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas a few months ago.

But Bivol, GIVEMESPORT.com’s 2022 Fighter of the Year, explained that he prefers to fight. Artur Beterbiev Instead of a potential rematch with Canelo Alvarez.

Knockout artist Beterbiev owns three light heavyweight belts as WBC, WBO and IBF champions, with the remaining strap, the WBA title, held by Bivol.

Beterbiev courageously faces the underdog Anthony Yard It takes place on January 28th at London’s iconic O2 Arena.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old Bivol seems to be taking a little break after a busy few months.

What is Dmitry Bivol’s ultimate goal?

He told Ring Magazine: I was 100% ready for this fight and it gave me all the confidence I needed to perform.

“To be honest, I didn’t celebrate much. After spending the night with the team, I flew back to my family. I’m trying to get back to.”

“This has been a good year for my career, but I am still on the journey to my dreams. As you speak, I know you are working hard to make plans for next year.

“I still want to be recognized and hopefully get the chance in the near future.”

Bivol manager Vadim Kornilov continues:

“To be honest, there was a lot of discussion about Canelo after the Ramirez fight, and according to the media, Canelo himself was particularly keen on the rematch. Now he’s considering fighting in the UK instead. We’re discussing doing a rematch later.

“I don’t think he wants an honest fight. I think his team thinks they are the least likely to get revenge in a rematch. I’m weighing my options.” Another boxer.

“Dmitry’s goal is to go where everyone knows it and win the remaining belts in his division. We will focus on that.”
