Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Southern Idaho University rodeo team is gearing up for a pretty good season. It currently ranks 6th overall for men and 11th for women in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association standings.
But this weekend, cowboys and cowgirls are doing something different….they hit the boxing ring.
The 45th Annual CSI Boxing Smoker is this Saturday.
CSI Rodeo Team Head Coach Steve Barney said:
Cowboys and cowgirls, and perhaps one or two members of the public, challenge it in the ring. It’s an event that takes months to prepare and a long time to train for athletes.
“This year, we had a month-long training camp before that, and to the best of our knowledge of how boxers train and what they should do, it incorporates boxing workouts and more,” Darien said. Johnson – Sophomore bareback rider.
This is the largest fundraiser for the CSI rodeo team, which is only partially funded by the university. The goal is about 400,000 yen.
“That money we spend on everything. Scholarships, travel expenses, practice fees, hay for inventory, motels on the move. We spend a lot of money and we have to do it well,” coach Barney said. Told.

The Expo Center has a capacity of just over 3,000 people. However, we cannot provide the same level of entertainment without our sponsors.
This atmosphere is an invaluable experience for competing athletes.
“Every time I wake up that morning, I have butterflies in my stomach. I think it’s a wake up day,” said Eric Bettencourt, a sophomore bareback rider.
