The key to limiting the Bears’ offense is to cut production in the NFL-leading ground game (2,696 yards).
Of course, Chicago’s rushing attack is spearheaded by second-year quarterback Justin Fields, who has paced all NFL passers this season with 1,011 yards.
No doubt, jamming Fields as a runner will be a difficult task for Detroit. Remember, the Lions just gave the Carolina Panthers his yards a week ago when he rushed for 320 yards.
Meanwhile, on the other side of football, Detroit should aim to capitalize on Chicago’s 30th-ranked rushing defense (2,268 yards allowed).
D’Andre Swift and Jamal Williams each found an end zone in the Lions’ winning effort and are credited with keeping the team’s playoff hopes alive heading into the final week of the regular season.

Justin Fields was an open space nightmare for the Lions in the first meeting between the two teams of the season. Week 17 could be similar, given Detroit’s injuries in the secondary and their struggles in tackling in the open field.
Fields is adept in the open field, but struggles in the pocket. Aidan Hutchinson played a great match in his first meeting.
It’s going to be another intense showdown, and this time the Lions’ tackle in space without DeShon Elliott could be their downfall. The Bears score on the drive to win. It’s a New Year’s Day heartbreaker in Detroit.

The chances of the Lions making the playoffs are still slim. So, with this being Detroit’s last home game of the season, expect the Lions to play hard and impress the home crowd.
Expect Detroit to take advantage of Chicago’s weak defense and strike back with a strong offense. I think the run game will also be used a lot by the Lions.
We also have our eye on Jameson Williams, who we hope will be more involved in the team’s offense this weekend. Keeping him going will be key to moving his growth forward.
It certainly wasn’t easy to beat Bears QB Justin Fields for the first time. But the Lions did it once and will do it again at Ford Field on Sunday.

The Lions want to get back on the field as soon as possible to wash the awful taste out of their mouths after losing to the Panthers last week.
The Bears have one of the better rushing offenses in the NFL, led by quarterback Justin Fields, so it will be another test for Aaron Glenn’s defense. This time the team passes the test and rebounds defensively.
Playing at Ford Field will give Detroit the offensive edge it needs to get away from the Bears in Week 17. Quarterback Jared Goff thrills the home crowd as he hits his three touchdowns en route to a commanding victory in the 2023 season opener.
