Shelomi Sanders, the daughter of Pro Football Hall of Famer and Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, will join Colorado’s women’s basketball team as a walk-on next week, according to a report by the Denver Post. Sanders joined the Buffaloes after playing at Jackson State University, where his father was head football coach for three seasons.

Sanders joins true freshman early entrant Mikayla Johnson, a four-star recruit from Anchorage, Alaska, who is new to the Colorado team. Both are redshirts this season and could start practicing next week pending medical clearance. Colorado coach JR Payne said much of the work for both players would be individual training, citing the lack of time to get a rep in the team’s setting at this point in the season.

“I just adapted quickly,” Payne said. “This is a huge physical transition to the level and amount of training we do in the weight room. or you will understand how we do things.”

Sanders, a 5-foot-7 guard, appeared in two games for Jackson State University, playing a total of nine minutes. She was in Jackson State’s game against Colorado last November, but she didn’t appear in Buffalo’s 77-53 win. The Buffaloes currently have a 13-3 record on the season and a 4-1 record in the Pac-12.
