Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya makes tons of pay-per-view numbers in favor of Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs. Ryan Garcia.
De La Hoya touting Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) will team up with premier boxing champion Showtime and DAZN to bring Davis’ (28-0, 26 KOs) fight to life.
“We’re all working together to blow this out of the water,” De La Hoya said at MMA Hour. We want to be able to win houses, this is that kind of event. [it does] close to 2.5
The target date is April 15th, possibly at a venue in Las Vegas.
Davis stepped into the ring earlier this month and stopped undefeated Hector Luis Garcia. Garcia had intended to go into the midterm, but he decided to avoid that scenario and wanted to go straight to the Davis showdown.
De La Hoya has a deal and expects it to be completed.
“It’s true,” De La Hoya said. “I can assure you that on April 15th it will happen. 100%. These big battles require a lot of patience and negotiation.
“But really, it’s been a pleasure working with PBC. Doing this fight, they understand that this is the biggest fight they’ll do in boxing. It’s a two-fighter match, two fighters in their prime, two of the best fighters, so this is boxing’s biggest fight, so I’m excited about it.
“You have DAZN and you have Showtime. Showtime has always done a great job putting these kinds of events together. We had to share the distribution and it was very complicated, but we were able to put it together.”
