It keeps snowing! That’s what people working in the winter sports business want.

And they definitely get excited when there are snowflakes in the forecast.

“It’s been a little bit harder than other years,” said Travis Bresson, who works at Leisure Time in Southbury.

Staff help skiers and snowboarders adjust their gear to reach the sometimes far-flung slopes.

The prospect of snow in Connecticut is good news.

“We’re really excited. It’s going to work around here. When you see the snow soaring into the air and accumulating on the ground, people get really excited for the season and it feels like they’re walking in the door,” Bresson said. said.

According to the owners of Land N’ Sea Powersports in Waterbury, things are a little different this season.

“We have seen their ups and downs for 37 years. Unfortunately, winter is late this year and we are waiting,” said Bob Tiso, owner of Land N’ Sea Powersports.

Some people are looking hard for snow.

Wolcott’s Barb Cosgrove said:

But Cosgrove says finding a place to go snowmobiling this season means longer road trips.

“We had to travel pretty far north last weekend, about six hours, to the Caribou area,” Cosgrove said.

A lack of snow doesn’t mean no business for this snowmobile dealer, though.

“Believe it or not, sales are average. It seems like more people are starting to play sports.

Many are still hoping that this winter will have time to take off.

“Pray for snow. That’s it,” Tissot said.

So how long do businesses want the snow to fall? One told NBC Connecticut hopefully by the end of March.
