The Cleveland State men’s basketball team suffered their first Horizon League loss on Thursday night, losing 85-71 to Youngstown State. The Vikings (7-7, 2-1 HL) hit 53% of his shots off the floor, but the Penguins (10-4, 2-1 HL) beat his CSU at the free-throw line from 3 and won.

Cleveland State had four players in double digits led by Tristan Enaluna and DeShon Parker. Parker finished with a season-high 18 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Enaluna also had 18 rebounds and 8 rebounds. The Dutch junior came off the floor as he finished 7-15.

Cleveland State responded from the halftime locker room. The Vikings slowly chipped away, cutting his YSU lead to his two with Deante Johnson’s dunk at the 14:52 mark.

A quick response from Youngstown State kept the Vikings at bay as an 8-0 spurt from the Penguins pushed the lead back to double digits at the 12:52 mark.

Cleveland State was able to cut the lead back to 5 in two innings with less than 5 minutes remaining, but the Vikings were unable to come close. YSU he pulled away late with a final score of 85-71.

Cleveland State continues its path to take on Robert Morris in the second game of a two-game Horizon League Road Weekend. The Vikings and Colonials go head-to-head on Saturday at 3pm.
