BYU has been in the spotlight lately when it comes to NFL talent, especially running backs. Of his 16 players who ran at least 1,000 yards during the regular season, two were former BYU backs.

Tyler Allgeier made a strong claim for AP Offensive Rookie of the Year in Atlanta. The previous fifth-round pick got off to a slow start, but he gradually gained carries with the Falcons and became a featured weapon on the offense. Finished the season in yard rushing yards.

Jamal Williams has taken the NFL by storm. First, he rushed for his 1,066 yards, his 11th most in the NFL. He also led the entire NFL with 17 rushing touchdowns, breaking Hall of Famer Barry Sanders’ 30-year-old record for one-season rushing touchdowns by the Detroit Lions. It’s an elite company somewhere. Then, after beating the Packers in Green Bay in Week 18, he mesmerized the world on a rollercoaster of postgame interviews.

So, is Christopher Brooks set to be the next lineup in the NFL’s former BYU running backs?

Brooks moved from Cal to BYU after four seasons with the Golden Bears. He was BYU’s most productive running back in 2022, leading the team with 817 yards in 130 rushes and six touchdowns. This is the person who said. He proved difficult to work with. He rushed for at least 100 yards in three games for BYU, including 164 yards against Stanford in the regular season finale.

He ranked 26th in the nation with 6.3 yards per carry.

The Oceanside, Calif. native attended the Hula Bowl in Orlando last week. He was an All-Star in his Classic where he rushed 13 times and he gained 84 yards.

His practice and game performances have drawn attention from watchful eyes representing several NFL teams.

BYU’s pro days are still ahead and the NFL draft season is just getting started, but Brooks has already met with two NFL teams. His size and speed combination makes him attractive to NFL teams. He may not be his fastest NFL-ready back, but Brooks has traits that translate to the next level.

Brooks appears to be the next running back to return to the NFL from BYU. Later, he quickly became a fan favorite as the 2019 BYU team got off to a hot start. He played in 14 games over two seasons with the Cardinals.

Along with Allgeier and Jamaal Williams, Ty’Son Williams creates three former BYU running backs coming to the NFL in 2022.

Brooks is next.
