Thursday was a big night for John Ehrett’s Jr. Edith Chavez.

A kicker for the Patriots football team, Chavez had five goals and three assists to lead the Patriots to a 10-6 victory over Livingston University at Hoss Memtsas Stadium.

Chavez is enjoying a great season with 35 goals and 12 assists, setting school records in the process.

John Ehlett (7-9-2) will end the regular season next Monday at 6:00 pm at Memtsas against the Jefferson Rydes.

Metairie’s Division II power pairing continues to impress and both threaten to make deep runs in the upcoming playoffs.

East Jefferson remained hot with a 4-0 win over Riverdale at Joe Yeni Stadium in a 7-II play.

East Jeff scored two goals in each half. After junior Kevin Velazquez and senior Danny Cueller each scored in the first half, Alvaro Torres scored on a penalty kick and Jonathan Valleciro completed the scoring by scoring a rebound for his own shot.

The Warriors (13-5-4, 5-0-1) haven’t lost a game since December 20.

The Rebels (10-6-3-3) finished the regular season.

Archbishop Rammel shut out Higgins 8-0 in the District 7-II game at home.

Senior CJ Coppeis scored a hat-trick and has 29 goals this season. Single-season record holder Tobo Thakpor Sr. added two more goals, taking his tally to 34 goals in the season. Sophomore Holden Allemann also scored two goals and freshman Matthew Hammons Jr. added a goal for Rummel.

Rummel is third, and East Jefferson, who defeated the Raiders 2-0 in a match broadcast live on CrescentCitySports.com on January 10, is fourth in the Division II Power Rankings.

The Raiders (18-5, 4-2) will host the Baton Rouge High on Saturday at 1pm.

The Hurricanes (5-9-3, 1-5-1) will end the regular season next Monday against Landry.
