BOSTON (AP) — Jayson Tatum had 32 points and Jaylen Brown had 19 as the Boston Celtics beat the Chicago Bulls 107-99 Monday night to reach the halfway point of the season in an NBA record. Added points.
Grant Williams added 20 points and Al Horford had 7 rebounds and 8 points. This included a clutch 3-pointer with 24 seconds left in his 41st game that gave the Eastern 29-12 victory to his conference champions defending champions.

Zach LaVine led Chicago with 27 points and scored 15 in the 4th quarter, leading the Bulls’ ferocious comeback bid. Chicago, who had won three in a row, hurt his right quadriceps in the third quarter and lost to DeMar and his DeRozan.
Nikola Vucevic had 21 points and 13 rebounds for Chicago. DeRozan scored 13 points in 23 minutes.
Lavigne’s 3-point shot gave Chicago a 99-97 lead, but in the final minute Chicago removed the jumper and the Celtics rebounded to Tatum. On the ball to Horford he makes a 3-pointer. Horford’s shot bounced off the rim and he took a 104-99 lead with 24 seconds remaining.
LaVine missed the Bulls again, and Tatum scored a two-handed dunk, drew a foul, and converted a free throw to seal it with 12 seconds remaining.
Lavigne’s layup went 11 points down in the fourth quarter and Chicago trailed 89-84. However, the Celtics responded to the surge with back-to-back jumpers from Brown and three-point plays from Williams.
The Celtics led 59-50 at halftime, with the Bulls making 3 of their 6 turnovers in the final minutes and the Celtics closing out the period with a 9-2 run before the biggest win of the game. Comparable to the lead.

Bulls: G Alex Caruso returned in the first quarter after missing the final two games with a sprained right ankle. He finished with his 6 points…. G Javonte Green (sore right knee) and C Tony Bradley (Health and Safety Protocol) did not play.
Celtics: Tatum scored 10 points midway through the first quarter and scored 12 of Boston’s 28 points in the first period. He finished the game with 7 assists and 8 rebounds. … Smart exited in the third quarter in Saturday’s win in San Antonio after colliding with Zach Collins. Boston manager Joe Mazura said Monday morning that Smart’s knee was still in pain and that he was being considered on a daily basis after being ruled out of Monday’s game.
