Cal outside linebacker Henry Ikahihifo, who played 10 games for the Blairs in 2022, announced on social media Friday that he has committed to a move to San Jose State.
He is the latest Cal move to advance to the Mountain West Conference, joining running back Ashton Hayes (Nevada), tight end Keleki Ratu (Nevada) and linebacker Patrick Hisatake (Hawaii).
At 6 feet 3 inches and 260 pounds, Hihifo Ika was the finalist for Cal’s Spring 2022 Recruitment class. He appeared in his 10 games with the Bears last season and against UNLV he recorded his five tackles, including a 13-yard sack. He made no tackles in his final four games of the California season.
San Jose State University will be Ikahihifo’s fourth stop after graduating from Paraclete High School in Lancaster, California.
Ikahihifo started his college career as a tight end at the University of Nevada, catching seven catches for 37 yards and no touchdowns in 2019 and 2020.

He then transferred to Canyon University, where he was moved to the defensive side. In his first season at Junior College in 2021, Ikahihifo recorded 32 tackles and his 5.5 sacks.
He then came to Cal hoping to help the Golden Bear. It was a pass rush, but it didn’t have the impact Cal was hoping for.
Ikahihifo has four relatives who have spent time on the NFL roster, including former Stanford defensive lineman Sione Rua, who played four seasons (2011-2014) for the Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, and Cleveland Browns.
