In pursuit of their eighth win of the season, the Washington Commanders welcome the Cleveland Browns to FedEx Field this Sunday.
With two games to go and a playoff spot at stake, coach Ron Rivera decided to hand the ball to quarterback Carson Wentz and bench Taylor Heinicke. Sunday will be the first game for Wentz, who broke his finger on October 13.
Wentz hopes to resume the offense after going 0-2-1 in the last three games. The rookie RB Brian Robinson Jr. is a bright spot, rushing for his 348 yards in the last four games.
The Commanders retain the final wildcard spot in the NFC after a 37-20 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Christmas Eve. The Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers follow Washington.
The Browns just suffered a terrible loss at home to the New Orleans Saints on Christmas Eve. Cleveland is on his 2-2 record since Deshawn Watson’s suspension ended earlier this month. Cleveland is out of the playoff race, but hopes to play spoilers on Sunday.
“I will do my best to bring Commander to hell.” Browns tight end David Nyok said.

Odds: The Commanders are a 7.5 point underdog against the 49ers.
Game time: Sunday, January 1, 2023 at 1:00 PM ET

Finally: Wentz on Commander’s playoff hopes:
When asked about returning to the starting quarterback position, Wentz said, “Personally, it’s exciting.” We’re in control of our destiny…it means a lot to us.”
