Milner signed a minor league contract with Milwaukee for the 2020-21 offseason. The Brewers elected him to their Big His league roster in May and have held the spot for the past year and a half. Last season, the southpaw appeared in his 67 games and posted a 3.76 ERA in 64 2/3 innings. Milner consistently induced grounders with his 48.9% clip of quality, with his 23.5% strikeout rate and negligible his 5.5% walk rate.
A native of Texas, Milner has also pitched for the Phillies, Rays, and Angels. He owns his 4.31 ERA in his 142 career frames, and he holds a lead of 20 while working primarily as a situational lefty. He crossed the threshold of three years of service last season and reached arbitration for the first time, MLBTR contributor Matt Swartz said. Give him a salary of $1.1 million. Milner, who turns 32 on Friday, will remain under the club’s management until 2025.
Caratini was acquired from the Padres in spring training. Caratini got off to a strong start but struggled in the second half, finishing the season with a .199/.300/.342 at-bat average. He hit his nine home runs and recorded decent strikeouts and walks, but suffered from a . 228 ball batting average. With Narváez now in Queens, Milwaukee acquired William Contreras to take on the major catching job.
A former second-round draft pick for the Cubs, Caratini has more than five years of MLB experience. He will be a free agent for the first time before his 30th season next winter. His $2.8 million salary in his final arbitration year is perfectly in line with Swartz’s projections.
