Sr. Ryan Forestier scored 44 points to help Brandeis beat LEE 82-71 in the District 28-6A women’s basketball game Friday night at the Northside Sports Gym.

The Broncos’ backcourt duo of Forestier and Mia Ramos scored a total of 68 points in a wireline victory over the Volunteers as Brandeis (16-9) improved to 9-3 with a 28-6A. LEE (10-19, 3-9) responded to challenges for much of the night, but are now officially eliminated from playoff contention.

“They are better than the district record show,” said Brandeis coach Jennifer Brewer. “They are very well coached. No one can sleep on them.

Ramos kicked off the match with a right-footed knockout of Brandeis and a three-pointer. The Broncos led 17-12 after the first frame. This was the lowest scoring quarter of the game.

Forestier started to heat up in the second quarter as it helped extend Brandeis’ lead. Forestier and Ramos combined for his 29 points in the first half, with Brandeis leading 35-25 at the break.

Volunteers don’t go down without a fight. LEE guard Devi Hernandez scored a game-high six of his 3-pointers, each of which seemed to dampen the momentum for the Broncos.

“(Hernandez) hit a ton of 3s last time, but they’re contested,” Brewer said. “They’re a good little bunch of athletes.”

Forestier responded each time, pushing the lead to double digits with her own 3-pointer in the fourth quarter. Volunteers made one more run to recover from an 18-point deficit, but she still had no answer for Forestier, who eventually put the game away.

“(Forestier) has the ability to dominate the game when it counts,” Brewer said. “Being able to score and create so that her teammates can score as well is definitely a solid power.”
