PANAMA CITY, FL (WJHG/WECP) – Arnold’s boys’ team is ready to host an eight-team, three-day tournament at Publix Sports Park in Panama City Beach. Coach Hammond and his Marlins will be joined by Leon, Florida High, South his Walton, Niceville, Wakulla and his two highly ranked teams in Mississippi, Biloxi and Ocean Springs.
“We have a Mississippi team that is the top team in Mississippi. I think Ocean Springs and Biloxi are both in the top 10. We have Niceville who have been to the state championship the last few years. I think there’s Wakulla playing really good football right now and they’re going to go far in the playoffs so there’s a lot of talent out there so when these games are played and who comes out on top It’s very exciting to watch,” said Arnold’s head coach, Jonah Hammond.
“We want people who come to the tournament to play games that they don’t normally get in the regular season, so we set up a bracket where everyone gets three games. “It’s a points system and you don’t get points if you lose. The top two teams with ties, shutouts and the most points will play the championship game on Saturday,” he continued.
The Marlins finished their first nine games with a 7-0-2 draw against Niceville and Tate. The tournament will feature the first match on Thursday at 5pm, followed by two more matches on Friday at 9pm and he will play at 5pm. Teams advance to the finals based on points earned in his first three games.
