Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray appears to be doing well after successful ACL surgery.
“My ACL surgery was a success. Thank you for all the love and prayers. Thank you for the indescribable support and positivity. I will be back,” Murray said on social media.
Shortly before that, Cardinals head coach Cliff Kingsbury told reporters he texted Murray yesterday (January 3, the day he was scheduled for surgery) and said things were going well.
“I did. I texted him yesterday. It worked. Now I’m starting rehab. I know he was excited to make it through and move on.” said Kingsbury.
“Obviously he’s never experienced this. But he’s excited. I think it’s kind of a reset for him. We know we’ve struggled offensively this year and at a higher level. I feel like I can play. I think he does.” He understands that he can put himself back together better and attack this thing. And I think that’s the way he sees it.
Murray is more than three weeks away from the night he tore his ACL at week 14. The plan was to fly to Dallas after Christmas to have surgery to allow for proper swelling relief.
Murray was the focus of much of the drama heading into the season, from the infamous study clause in his new contract to Arizona’s poor performances on the field.
Of the quarterback’s criticism, Kingsbury said, “As a team with all the injuries, I think it’s all different things going on.
“Unfortunately it comes with you being the starting quarterback. Who is responsible for that and when you win you get credit for it, so he understands it.” I have.”
The Arizona franchise quarterback’s road to recovery begins now, but he seems ready to get to work and return as soon as possible.
