The Arizona Cardinals are the 3rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but that’s not the only chance to draft a franchise player. Arizona could end up with a total of 8 picks:
The Cardinals traded the original fifth-round pick for Cody Ford and also lost the seventh-round pick in the Trayvon Mullen trade. Arizona more than makes up for those absences with a handful of compensatory picks given by free agency last season.
OverTheCap’s Nick Korte predicts the Cardinals will get the next pick.
3rd round pick (Christian Kirk)
5th round pick (Chandler Jones)
6th round pick (Chase Edmonds)
Pro Football Focus recently put Jones and Edmonds on the “Worst Free Agent Contracts of 2022” list.
That would give the Cardinals the 8th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Only the Washington Commanders are projected to have a third-round pick alongside Arizona.
NFC West rival Los Angeles has four picks due, San Francisco has three, and Seattle has no picks.
These are just predictions, but OverTheCap usually gets them right thanks to their detailed approach to the formula and sources within the league who are familiar with the specific language within the rules/instructions.
