To Sam Voltz: Eddie Hahn says the next fight between Anthony Joshua and Jermaine Franklin could be shown on pay-per-view on April 1 from London’s O2 Arena.
Find lots of friends from boxing fans who can’t win by selling a Joshua-Franklin fight on DAZN PPV, especially the many who subscribe to streaming platforms.
Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) has lost his last two fights. Some feel he has been shot both mentally and physically after spending 10 years in the professional game. His April 1st contest should be a confidence builder to boost his spirits as he needs to win at this point to save his career.
Unless Hahn promotes the Joshua vs. Franklin fight from that angle “Win or Retire” It doesn’t bring you more than a handful of pay-per-view purchases. Americans may not approve of the fight in droves, but British fans will if Hearn promotes a contest themed on his retirement.
Interestingly, Hahn has been coy about whether Joshua’s match will be pay-per-view, suggesting he doesn’t want a flood of bad press and abuse from fans before his fight with Franklin is negotiated. But that doesn’t matter. For pay-per-views, fans are going to roast Hahn non-stop, and many refuse to buy the fight out of principle.
Joshua vs. Franklin ‘might be’ a PPV
Eddie Hearn told Boxing Social about Anthony Joshua’s next fight at The O2 Arena in London on April 1, “It will be announced at AJ next week.” There is a high possibility that the will fight.I think it will be a great match.
“Maybe it’s pay-per-view, maybe not. Look at this space
“On the one hand, ‘Anthony Joshua is done, he’s mentally shattered,’ ‘Oh, Jermaine Franklin is a terrible fight, he’ll knock him out in three rounds,’ and ‘Jermaine Franklin beat Dillian White’, but it’s a terrible fight for AJ.
“These people are totally psychic. This is a really, really hard fight for him to go back to. Back in the Lion’s Den of O2. It’s a big event and I’m looking forward to seeing you all.” [Joshua] return. He’s out in Texas now and training. I hope he gets to meet the wonderful Anthony Joshua on April 1st.
“Adam Catarrall, I like fighting disciples, but fuck me. [Joshua] When he was going to fight Fury, people said, “Oh, you can’t let him fight Fury.” After the battle of Usyk, he broke down mentally. He needs to rebuild and come back.
“Now he’s back in the fight with the same people who said Franklin beat Dillian White. I think it was a very, very close fight. ‘It’s a mismatch.’ A good heavyweight and full of confidence.
Hahn hits back at criticism
“We saw the number one heavyweight in the world beat Deontay Wilder, beat Dillian White, and fight Derek Chisora. I just fought 1, lost to him twice, he got a new trainer, he’s back, and he’s going to fight Jermaine Franklin.
All I can say is F**k things. I’ve never been more excited about the return of Anthony Joshua. It’s personal to me that this guy is going back to where he belongs: the World Heavyweight Championship.
“We’re going to the O2. All eyes will be on the O2 arena and Anthony Joshua that night and you’ll see that the pressure is on. There’s a lot of pressure in this fight,” Hahn said. Told.
