The Angels suddenly have one of the best outfields in baseball. Between Mike Trout, Hunter Renfroe and Taylor Ward, the Angels have his three outfielders, each ranked in the top 10 at each position by MLB Network.
Renfro was ranked 10th in right field and Trout was ranked 1st in center field for eight consecutive seasons. And most recently, Ward was ranked as his #4 left fielder in MLB.
The Angels went 73-89 last year without much coverage, so casual baseball fans may not understand why Ward is ranked so high. But Angels fans know Ward’s ranking is well deserved.
Ward burst onto the baseball scene last year, posting career highs in nearly every category. 281/.360/.473 with 23 home runs, 65 RBIs, 22 doubles and 60 walks. 833, and an impressive OPS+ of 135, he was nominated as a Silver Slugger and All-His MLB team member.
Entering his 29th season, Ward is looking to continue this upward trend and make himself even more known in baseball. Making a name for yourself in the outfield with Mike Trout isn’t easy, but Ward has done just that. This year should be even better.
