Andres Gimentz From a prospect with many strengths, he quickly became the best second baseman in baseball.
Cleveland fans saw Jimenez blossom early in the season and were introduced to the baseball world during the All-Star Game. After that, it was clear that Jimenez was the real deal, and he’s been playing as the best second baseman in baseball ever since.
MLB Network recognized this talent and ranked him the third best player with two RBIs heading into the 2023 season.Who is ahead of Jimenez in the rankings? Jeff McNeil second and Jose Altuve at number one.
The case of Altuve being ahead of Jimenez at number one is understandable, but there is certainly talk of Jimenez surpassing McNeil.
326 batting average, higher than Jimenez’s average. However, the Guardians’ second baseman OPS and SLG percentages were won by McNeill.
Jimenez was on base as much as McNeill, even if the hits weren’t meant to be. Gimenez also hit 69 RBIs and 17 home runs, also striking out McNeill.
Both players are incredible defenders, but Jimenez ranks in the 98th percentile in number of outs and McNeill ranks in the 95th percentile. Both are elite, but Jimenez has the clear edge.
Ultimately, these rankings don’t mean much, but it’s fun to see where others see Guardian talent. and it’s great to see Andres Jimenez mentioned with them.
