While some Michigan Football officials are certain the rumors are nothing, at least one prominent and credible source believes Harbaugh’s return to the NFL is very real. It is said that it is
On Thursday, John U. Bacon — author, speaker, and Michigan know-it-all — provided an important update on what he’s hearing about the latest Jim Harbaugh story. . Bacon posted on his own blog that his sources kept telling him a return to the NFL was realistic, but UM now doesn’t believe it is. Some people do.
Below is a notable excerpt from Bacon’s latest update.
My NFL sources, including reporters and coaches, believe Harbaugh will return to the NFL, but back in 2014, they always thought so.

If Harbaugh actually goes to the NFL, it won’t be for the NIL, money, or control.Since Manuel sent out a public email outlining NIL’s efforts on Dec. 23, the NIL group has raised another $7 million from Raised $8 million to benefit UM football players. Few people are completely immune to money, but I have never seen Harbaugh make decisions based primarily on money..Furthermore, Manuel renegotiated Harbaugh’s contract to make him College is poised to make him one of the top five paid coaches in his football.
Sources say Harbaugh is sick of the NCAA and tired of all the hassle that comes with coaching college football and the NFL. The NCAA is famous for penalizing misdemeanors while ignoring felonies. As Jerry Tarkanian famously put it, “The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky that Cleveland State is going to give him another year of probation.”
Another unknown factor: Harbaugh and/or his staff may be subject to some form of disciplinary action by the NCAA. The exact nature of the violation, what the NCAA response will be (which, in the NCAA’s case, is impossible to predict), and how Harbaugh and Manuel will react to the NCAA’s conclusion remain to be seen. UM insiders believe the NCAA will announce the nature of the violations and penalties in the coming weeks.
