A Deontay Wilder showdown is something Joseph Parker welcomes

Boxing’s road to prosperity was undoubtedly difficult, but Joseph Parker was happy to get off.

After falling so badly in back-to-back matches against Anthony Joshua and Dillian White, Parker (30-3, 21 KOs) dusted himself off and quickly started rebuilding. It was a long process, but Parker began to reap the benefits, scoring six consecutive victories.

Parker saw the victory over Joe Joyce as conspicuously essential, as he needed at least one more win ostensibly before he could challenge for another world title. Although he stepped into their showdown filled with arrogance, Joyce eventually broke the will of his man and scored a stoppage victory in the 11th round.

Now Parker is back with a familiar rebuild. On 21 January at his Manchester arena in Manchester, England, Parker tries to get on track, facing Jack Massey. By and large, Parker has given fringe contenders most of his focus.

On October 15, 2022, Deontay Wilder entered the second half of his career. That night, the former WBC titleist blasted Robert Helenius in the first round.

Indeed, Parker reveals he shook his head in approval. But even though the Alabama native looks as explosive as ever, Parker is all set for future showdowns.

“I know Deontay Wilder has a great win over Helenius in the first round,” Parker told iD Boxing. “And he showed that he still has a big right hand. If all goes well, we can make the fight happen.”

Still, even with his chest puffed and his motivation at an all-time high, Parker isn’t likely to face Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) anytime soon. Or head to the highly anticipated showdown with Anthony Joshua.

Meanwhile, Massey has lofty goals of his own. Since losing to Richard his Liakporue, Massey has achieved his four-game winning streak, three of which came before the final bell rang.

But Parker isn’t flabbergasted by what his next foe brings to the table.

“Fight with anyone”
