Soccer loses 4-1 to Temple City

Women’s soccer lost 4-1 at home to the Temple City Rams on Friday 13 January. The Tigers have slipped to a record of 7-1-1 and 2-1 in the Rio Hondo League.

From kickoff, the Rams were closing in on the Tigers’ defense on every front. The Tigers played their part, but it was too late for the Rams, who slipped through the defense to shoot a goal early in the game.

From there, it became a defense-centered play again, until the pass to the first grader Anna Kowal I ran the ball towards the offensive field. She shot the ball, but it was barely blocked by the opposing goalkeeper.

After halftime, both teams re-energized and the Tigers appeared to be stuck in the same position.

However, the Tigers quickly got lucky when Hartstein dived in for a shot from the Rams and blocked the ball. The Rams quickly got possession of the ball again, but she blocked the second shot and returned it to the Tigers’ hands.

On the next play, Kowal dribbled the ball into the opponent’s field and seized an opportunity. She shot the ball towards the goal, which flew through the air and entered the net cleanly, giving the Tigers their first goal of the game.

In this turn of events, the Tigers pushed the Rams towards the opposite field, but the Rams managed to break through the defense and move onto the defensive field. Hartstein ran out of the goal box to help her team so she was unprepared for a ball that flew over her head and into the goal.

In a battle for possession of the ball, the Tigers received a foul from the Rams and were awarded the ensuing penalty kick.Junior Iris Pollard I went to take a kick, but the ball flew to the left in the moment of preparation and missed the goal.

Both teams fought hard in the second half, but the Rams passed the ball to the defense. Hartstein tried to block the ball, but it scraped into the Rams’ fourth goal.

The Tigers were able to break through the Rams’ defense, but the Rams did just as well. Both teams took chances and shots, but communication and passing went well, and the buzzer sounded, resulting in no scoring. The final score of the game was his 4-1 in favor of the Rams.
