PHILADELPHIA – It didn’t take long for Jalen Hurts to show that he’s fully recovered like he was before he injured his shoulder on Dec. 18, or that he can run like he used to. .
Hearts led the scoring drive in the Eagles’ first two possessions, leading 14-0 in the first quarter against the Giants in Saturday night’s NFC Division Round game.
The Hearts went 7-for-7 for a perfect 89 yards and 2 TDs, the first 16-yard completion for the Dallas Goudarts. Dallas Gaudart caught the ball with his left hand striding into the end zone. The second was a 9-yard TD to Devonta Smith.
When Hurts’ shoulder was in doubt, he threw deep to Smith on the second play, hitting 40 yards to the Giants’ 33.
The Eagles also returned the lead option to attack against the Giants, using it twice in the first quarter. Hurts got his 9 yards on his second try and banged to the torso. he was fine
It was clear that all restrictions on Hartz being hit in the shoulder had been removed.
If the Hearts are strictly pocket passers, the Eagles aren’t as dynamic, like their final game against the Giants on Jan. 8, when the Eagles won 22-16. Hurts clearly avoided contact as he threw 35 times in just nine runs, three of which he was on his knees at the end of the game. Hearts also didn’t have the designed runs asked of him.
Sanders knows the difference, too. He ran for his career-high 1,269 yards this season, mostly because Hearts added his 760 yards on the ground.

For some reason, Eagles running back Boston Scott has had great success against the Giants when it comes to touchdowns. Scott scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter to give the Eagles a 21–0 lead. It was Scott’s 11th career touchdown against the Giants in nine games. He has achieved 7 TDs in his 54 other games.
Myles Saunders did all the work on that drive, carrying the ball 43 yards in a row six times as the Eagles went down the field.
Reddick 2 Sack, Bradbury INT
Herson Reddick had two big sacks in a row on the Giants’ first possession. The first came in 35 and 3 for the Eagles. This put the Giants back five yards. But they asked for it on the 4th and 8th. This time, Reddick sacked Giants QB Daniel Jones for his 8-yard loss, giving the Eagles the ball for 48.
They quickly ran down the field and scored.
Then former Giants cornerback James Bradbury intercepted Jones in midfield to end the first quarter.
Eagles Inactive Has Two DBs
The Eagles’ gameday roster had one surprise, as safety Anthony Harris was left out despite receiving promotion to the practice team. The Eagles are in an injured slot, with his cornerback Abonte Maddox missing his third straight game with a toe injury, while Chauncey Gardner his Johnson has returned from the injured list to make his second. Having only played the second game, we could have taken advantage of that depth.
In addition to Maddox and Harris, the Eagles’ other inactive players were QB Ian Book, RB Trey Salmon, LB Kyron Johnson and G Josh Sills.
Harris was the starting safety for the Eagles last season. The Eagles released him just before the season started. The Broncos released him on December 6, and the Eagles signed him to their practice team a week later.

- Paving lanes: Another major injury issue concerns light tackler Lane Johnson, who is trying to play through a torn adductor muscle. Johnson missed the final two games of the regular season and spent four weeks preparing for this one, but don’t mistake that for healing. Johnson needs surgery to repair his groin injury. So the question is how much pain Johnson can take. If he doesn’t win the game, the Eagles will bring in Jack Driscoll. Jack Driscoll has started in place of Johnson in the last two games, with mixed results. Johnson has been named to the All-Pro three times, including this season, and is considered the best right tackle in the NFL, so that’s not Driscoll’s batting.
- Stop Sakuon: Little is known that the Giants star ran back Seyquon Barkley, who was No. 4 in the NFL with 1,312 rushing yards, despite facing the Giants for the third time in six weeks. Barkley was placed in question in his first game against the Eagles on December 11 due to his neck injury. He played, but not after the Eagles led 21-0 in the second quarter. Barkley had his lowest total of the season with 28 yards. Like many of the Giants’ starters, Barkley did not appear in the regular season finale as the Giants were locked in a playoff spot.
- Playoff Atmosphere: Believe it or not, the Eagles are hosting a playoff game just for the second time in five years since the NFC Championship victory over the Minnesota Vikings on January 21, 2018. On May 5, 2020, he lost 17-9 in the Wild Card Round. It was a dud, as QB Carson Wentz left in the first quarter with a concussion and was replaced by Josh McCown, 40. As such, Eagles fans are particularly interested in seeing him in his NFC Championship game. We need to go all out in this match because of the nature of the game.
