James Bernadin took a big win over Clay Burns on Friday night at the Wind Creek Events Center in Bethlehem.
A victory by unanimous decision (60-54, three judges) is the latest for Bernadine (10-0-1). He remains undefeated and, apparently, has an indomitable spirit.
The lightweight fight was six full rounds.
Bernadine, who was contacted by phone, said he was “comfortable” every round. The day after the match, he said, he felt “amazing.” His conditioning held up and the winning streak continued.
The game plan going into the ring was to stop Burns if possible.
“I wanted him to do his job and catch him in the meantime,” Bernadine said.
However, according to Bernardin, Burns “kept his hands on his head” and was not presented with an opening.
Will Torres, coach at Lancaster City Boxing Academy, where Bernadine trains, said: “We dominated and the scorecards show it.
“He was very tough, strong as nails,” Torres said of Barnes. “It’s hard to stop a man who is there to survive.”

“I have a huge respect for[Burnes],” Bernadine said. “He took a lot of shots and did a lot of damage. And he took it.”
“It felt like sparring,” Bernadine said. But for the decisive victory, he said.
Bernadin’s latest win came at the Showtime production ShoBox: The New Generation event. It was the first ShoBox card for Bernadine.
