A rematch between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterroll scheduled for March 4 in Glasgow has been postponed, with Taylor suffering from a torn plantar fascia, ESPN.com’s Mike Coppinger reports.
Taylor, 32, has been battling since winning the card in February 2022 in a highly controversial split decision against Caterroll, also in Glasgow, to retain the undisputed championship at £140. not.
Since then, Taylor has slowly vacated three of the four belts he has held, but he still holds the WBO title, originally scheduled for early February but in March. It was to be defended in a modified Caterole rematch.
Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) originally intended to move to 147lbs after the Caterroll fight, but controversy ultimately led him to decide to stay in the rematch.
Caterole (26-1, 13 KOs) has also not fought since the first bout.
Taylor’s injury recovery period is expected to be 6-12 weeks, but we won’t know until he goes through it. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and the fight resumes without incident.
