On Friday night, the top teams from each category gathered at Lupine Field.

Defending state champion Newman defeated Archbishop Rammel 3-2.

The Raiders led 1-0 at halftime, but the Greenies fought back furiously, scoring all three goals on set pieces in the second half to seal the win.

Cole Spady and Kearney Niceset scored Newman’s goals.

Tobo Takpor scored both goals for the Raiders.

The Greenies are #1 on the latest LHSAA Division IV rankings, and the Raiders are #2 on the Division II rankings.

Newman (14-2-3) moves to Archbishop Hannan at 6:00 pm on Monday.

Rummel (17-5) will play at Belle Chasse on Tuesday at 7pm.

West Jefferson defeated rival John Ehlett 3-0 in the District 7 contest.

Junior Luis Castro, sophomore Henry Reyes and sophomore Ameto Ndao each scored and senior Maicol Martinez added an assist.

The West Jefferson (5-4-2, 2-1-1) will return to the non-district contest today at 2:30 pm on the North Shore, while the Patriots (6-9-1, 1-4) will take on the Livingston College Eights. host.6 p.m. Monday
