The short-handed Golden State Warriors earned their sixth road win of the season on Friday night, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-114 at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

Golden State chose to rest Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins on the second night of back-to-back games, but bench players Jordan Poole, Ty Jerome and Donte DiVincenzo, Jamaichal Green and Jonathan Cuminga lead the team to victory.

Poole was particularly impressive, scoring 32 points, three rebounds and two assists in 41 minutes. He made 10 of 23 shots from the floor and from across the arc he made 5 of 12.

Poole is the future of point guards in the post-Curry era, and the NBA’s Twitter applauded Friday’s performance without the 23-year-old Curry:

Jordan Poole is having a great game

Poole is in the middle of his best season in the NBA. He appeared in Friday’s games, averaging 21.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 45 games while shooting 43.5 percent from the floor and 31.5 percent from the deep.

That said, especially considering he made a few simple mistakes in Friday’s win, it’s hard to believe he’ll be able to put his development to good use before the franchise can fully rely on him in Curry’s absence. It is clear that there is still much work to be done in

The Warriors improved their season to 23-23 with Friday’s win. They still sit ninth in the Western Conference.
