Mobley and Allen both rank in the top five in defensive win share. Mobley leads the NBA with a 2.6 and Allen has a 2.3 and he’s fourth. The frontcourts also individually rank among the top 10 in ERA. Allen is 7th with 107.7 and Mobley is 8th with 107.9.
This has to be the best defensive frontcourt in the NBA.
The best thing about their game is that their impact goes beyond the defensive side of the floor. Each of these players is also an important factor in Cleveland’s offense.
Allen is averaging 14 points per game this season, which he achieves with a 63.1% efficient shooting from the floor. JA works very well in a pick and roll game that also sets up Darius Garland When Donovan Mitchell for success. This includes one of the guards finding a shot or giving it back to Allen in the paint.
Mobley scored 14.5 points per night with a slightly lower efficiency than Allen. But Mobley enjoys expanding his game a bit, shooting more mid-range shots. This is one of his reasons why these two big men of his can coexist.
Neither of these players can score more than 20 points on the night or score 71 like the rest of the Cavaliers. Don’t let that distract you from the impact they have.
