The “Jungle” has been a mainstay of Auburn basketball for quite some time.
This is the nickname given to the raucous crowd at Neville Arena, more specifically the student section. The marketing team has been working hard on this issue over the past two seasons.
big game boomer – Content creators who thrive on wild, quirky (and sometimes deliberately silly) engagements decided to take to Twitter and post their top 25 best/worst nicknames for college basketball arenas.
According to BGB, “Jungle” is the ninth best arena nickname in all of college basketball and the best nickname in the Southeastern Conference.
Higher names include Loud House (Syracuse), Kennell (Gonzaga, who just snapped a 75-game home winning streak), Dome of Doom (personal favorite Wyoming), The Fog (Kansas), Octagon of Doom and others. (Kansas), and The Pit (New Mexico) – the highest ranked arena nicknames.
It’s hard to believe that “The Pit” ranks higher than any of the nicknames listed, but that’s not exactly Big Game Boomer’s accuracy.
