houston – houston – Andrea Cacera has joined the University of Houston’s women’s soccer program as a volunteer assistant coach, head coach Jaime Frias announced Friday.
“Andrea is a coach who continues to improve our environment on and off the field. He is intelligent and thoughtful in the way he watches the game and teaches,” said Frias. “With Andrea’s help, players and teams will be able to use analytics and video to enhance their playing style, aid in player development and help set on-field goals for their programs. The player makes Andrea part of our staff.”
Casella joins the Cougars after spending one season as an assistant coach for Texas Southern women’s soccer, bringing a wealth of experience both nationally and internationally.
“Jaime, thank you for the opportunity to attend and learn from Fleur. [Benatar] and Jerin [Cunningham]said Casella. “We have great plans and vision for the future of the programme. Everything is in place to succeed here. I am very excited and can’t wait for the season to start.”
During his time with the Tigers, Casera was responsible for analyzing the program’s performance, conducting research with the coaching staff and then applying the results to the team’s training in both practices and games. Analyzed opponents and program recruits to determine strategy with coaching staff.
Casella moved to Houston in 2021 and began working as the men’s ECNL head coach for RISE soccer club before becoming the head coach of the U19 and U15 women’s academies.
After beginning his coaching career in Europe, Casera moved to the United States and began coaching for Real Colorado. Working directly in the club’s development academy, he not only coordinated events for the U13-14 competitive teams, but was also the head of the men’s ECNL, where he was also the coach. .
As an athlete, Casella has played for nearly 20 years, mostly across Europe, including Italy and England. Casella holds licenses in USSF and UEFA, License in Game Analysis Soccer His Hub, License in Performance Analysis Level II, License in Sports Psychology and Personal Mental Skills.
Originally from Turin, Italy, Casera lives in Houston with her partner Maggie and her cat Oliver.
