USUE Women’s Soccer Coaching Staff Changes Announced

Utah State Eastern has named Jacqueline Tug Stevens as the co-head coach of the Utah State Eastern women’s soccer program for the 2023 season. Stevens joins the current men’s and women’s head coaches, Jared Woodhouse, which has led the program to national rankings in the past three years. The two coaches will work together to lead her women’s team through 2024, at which point Stevens will reign as sole head coach.

“My vision here at USU Eastern is to develop and maintain a highly competitive program that athletes want to participate in. To create an atmosphere where they can achieve their academic and athletic goals.” Stevens said.

Coach Stevens knows USU Eastern well as the current assistant coach of both the men’s and women’s football teams from spring 2021. He had a career as an attacking winger in college and moved to his winger defensively in his sophomore year, where he won the MVP and captain of the team.

In addition, Stevens has been a player/coach for the Red Devils WPSL for the past five years and a club coach for the Southern Utah County for the past seven years.

Coach Stevens is also the owner of a small business, Fundamental Athletics, which she has owned for eight years and trains over 100 athletes throughout Utah. As an owner and operator, her goal is to redefine athletics using a holistic approach so that athletes find a healthy balance between fun and challenge. Her focus is on teaching the basic fundamentals of the sport and helping athletes set goals and create the steps necessary to reach those goals.

Stevens earned an associate’s degree from Utah State University during his time as a student-athlete at USU Eastern. She then transferred to the University of Utah, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy from the U College of Health. After that, she continued her education and she earned a master’s degree in business administration and leadership from Western Governors University.

She now lives in Price with her husband, Caleb, and her bulldog, Omelette. Together, she enjoys the outdoors camping, hiking, UTV riding, and paddleboarding with Omelette.

“We are excited about this new transition for the women’s football programme,” said Athletics Director Jess Brinkerhoff. “Director Wodehouse has built a very successful program and we know Jacklin has the experience and vision to sustain that success.”
