Trade rumors for Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Brian Reynolds swirled around MLB earlier this offseason, but the rumors have since calmed down, thanks in part to the Pirates’ reported asking price. Still, it’s still possible that Reynolds, who requested a trade, will be traded. The Atlanta Braves, who have expressed interest in the Pirates’ outfielder in the past, have a vacancy in left field that Reynolds can certainly fill.
So why not get the two clubs working together to discuss a trade for Reynolds? rice field.
“The Braves like Reynolds and have confirmed with the Pirates about a possible trade in the past, but the Braves are set for a foreseeable future in center field and right field with Michael Harris II. So a trade for him is unlikely at the moment, and Ronald Acuna Jr., and the sheer load of young talent Pittsburgh is seeking in a trade with Reynolds.”
O’Brien said the Braves are primed for a long game with two outfield spots in Ronald Acuna Jr. and Michael Harris II.
Not only that, but the huge asking price of the Brian Reynolds trade would not fit the Braves’ current strategy.
For Braves fans, it is certainly intriguing to imagine the outfield with Acuna, Harris and Reynolds, who have posted .861 OPS over the past two seasons.
However, the latest MLB rumors seem to indicate that this is not the direction the club is willing to go at this point.
