Playing an ugly game is becoming the norm for the Ohio State University basketball team. After losing to bottom-placed Minnesota at home a few games earlier, the Buckeyes followed suit with a score of 63–60 to the team just ahead of the Golden Gophers in the Nebraska standings.
Well, another close loss for this Ohio State team led by Chris Holtman. This is a trend that can no longer be dismissed as bad luck and bouncing balls. This time, a chance to tie the game at Sean McNeil’s buzzer was cut off after another desperate and confusing final possession.

It was ugly from the start for the Buckeyes. OSU shot poorly in the first half, but managed to stay in the ball game as Nebraska showed a walker as well, going up one point at 22-21. Lack of ball movement, lack of spacing, watching one man dribble the ball in an isolated set.
The second half was much the same.
Freshman Bryce Sensabo led the Buckeyes in scoring again, but again struggled to shoot the ball off the floor in the first half. He scored 18 points on 6-of-16 shooting. In fact, Ohio State as a whole struggled to make shots. The Buckeyes field goal percentage was just 35.6 percent, and he made only 20 of 56 shots.

The loss left OSU 10-8 overall and 2-5 in the league. The Buckeyes themselves are now only 1/2 game from the basement. It’s getting harder and harder to watch, and one has to wonder if this team will continue to skate.
