Los Angeles Dodgers prospects Bobby Miller and Gavin Stone were ranked among the top 10 right-handed pitchers heading into the 2023 season by MLB Pipeline.
Bobby Miller checked in in 6th and Gavin Stone in 10th. They also headline the history of drafting and developing the Dodgers’ elite pitchers.
The Dodgers join the Philadelphia Phillies and Cleveland Guardians and are one of three organizations with two prospects in the MLB pipeline rankings.
A first-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, Miller, 23, was ranked the Dodgers’ second most promising player in the 2022 minor league season. He finished with a 4.25 combined ERA in 23 starts between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Not only did the Louisville player strike out 145 in 112.1 innings last year, he also represented LA in the MLB Futures game at Dodger Stadium this summer.
In a dominant 2022, the 24-year-old Stone was named the Dodgers’ prestigious Minor League Pitcher of the Year, and for good reason.
Stone, who jumped from High-A Great Lakes to Triple-A last season, posted an astounding 1.48 ERA in 25 games. Among them was that in his six starts at OKC he posted an impeccable 1.16 ERA to cap out his season. He also had a 0.94 WHIP in 23.1 innings with the OKC Dodgers.
Miller and Stone, who appeared to be promoted to Triple-A together last year, are likely to make their MLB debuts with the Dodgers this season.
Just as Miller ranked No. 2 and Stone No. 7 on MLB.com’s Prospect Rankings last year, they also made it onto MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 Prospects list for 2022.
Bobby Miller potential target in Brian Reynolds trade
Pittsburgh Pirates All-Star outfielder Brian Reynolds is rumored to be one of the targets as the Dodgers continue to search for a potential new center fielder.
The Dodgers remain interested in Reynolds, but right-handed Miller is the name brought up as a possible trade chip.
Miller could be considered a “non-starter” for Los Angeles in trade talks, but his big-league predictions make him an understandable prospect for any team, especially for the rebuilding Pirates, if traded to the Dodgers. Make it a possible target.
