Taryn Jakubowski Joins Husky Women’s Soccer Team

DEKALB, Illinois – Northern Illinois University Women’s Soccer Head Coach Michael O’Neal On Wednesday (January 18), we announced the addition of Taryn Jakubowski to our Husky Women’s Soccer staff as a volunteer assistant.

“We are very excited to have Taryn join our staff,” said O’Neil. “Her experience at Creighton and her professional career in Finland will be a great asset to our program. I know very well how to make an impact in a way.”

A highly accomplished college player, Jakubowski played professionally in Finland for two years before joining the Husky staff.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Coach O’Neill for the wonderful opportunity to become a member of the NIU Husky Program and join the coaching staff. I am truly grateful and honored to be a part of a program that has already established an admirable culture in the Not only are we excited to see the success of these Huskies women on and off the field, but we are thrilled to see this program flourish and look forward to next season.Go Huskies!”

Jakubowski played for Creighton University during his college days, was named to the All-Big East First Team twice in 2018 and 2019, and was also a member of the Big East All-Freshman Team in 2016. She has scored 17 goals and her 11 assists with the Blue Jays.She graduated from Creighton University with a degree in psychology in 2019.

Following his university career, Jakubowski spent two seasons (2021-22) playing for Kuopion Paloseura (KuPS) in the Finnish First Division. In 2021, Jakubowski helped KuPS win the league and his UEFA Champions League qualification.

A native of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, Jakubowski attended Huntley High School and was named the Northwest Herald Player of the Year in 2016 when he led the Red Raiders to fourth place in the Illinois Class 3A state. Jakubowski also played his football for the Chicago Sockers FC.
