Kyle Harrison, a 21-year-old prospective pitcher, is expected to join the San Francisco Giants’ rotation during the 2023 season.
Fans are eager for the left-hander’s major league debut from De La Salle Concord High School, who is considered the Giants’ best pitching candidate since Madison Bumgarner.
For now, Harrison is being hailed industry-wide as a future rotation mainstay. This week, MLB.com made a top 10 list of potential left-handed pitchers, and Harrison was his #1.
Ken Waldichuk of the A’s is third. Waldichuk pitched at St. Mary’s College, and the A’s acquired him from the Yankees on his deadline to trade him last year.
Baseball America released its top 100 prospective list on Wednesday, and Harrison was ranked No. 38, up from No. 95 last year. 113 innings.
The only other Giants prospect on the list is 37-year-old shortstop Marco Luciano.
Five Giants prospects were on the list last year, including 71-year-old catcher Joey Burt (now in the major leagues), 73-year-old outfielder Luis Matos and 94-year-old Elliott Ramos.
The A’s frontrunner, catcher first baseman Tyler Soderstrom, ranks 35th on Baseball America’s list, up from 92nd last year. The 21-year-old Soderstrom will be named a first-round pick in 2020, and in 2022 he will play for three farms with his team, including Triple-A Las Vegas, batting .267, 29 homers, and OPS. I scored .825.
The A’s are deep in the catch position because they traded Sean Murphy to the Braves last month. Shay Langeliers are currently the A’s top catcher, and other members of the organization include 2022 first-round pick Daniel Souzak and 2019 fourth-round pick Kyle McCann. included.
