Detroit Lions fans excitedly took to social media to express their relief, excitement and optimism that offensive coordinator Ben Johnson will remain with the organization in 2023.
Johnson, 36, quickly became a top assistant coach in the National Football League.
In fact, he was scheduled to meet in person with the Carolina Panthers, but NFL Network reports show that he told the Lions of his plans to turn down other opportunities to continue working with the Detroit offense.
Players in the locker room joked that at the end of the season, they should stop publicly saying such good things about Johnson.
Among them was quarterback Jared Goff.
The result was obvious, especially in the red zone, as it made Detroit’s offense harder to stop.
