NBA says Joel Embiid didn’t foul Russell Westbrook at end of Lakers-76ers game

The Los Angeles Lakers lost three games in a row after dropping Sunday night’s contest to the Philadelphia 76ers 113-112.

Russell Westbrook tried to attack Joel Embiid at the end of the fourth quarter with the Lakers trailing by one, but his winning attempt was blocked by forward George Niang.

After the match, Westbrook said Embiid held his arm before the botched shot attempt, and replays and screenshots seemed to back up his claim.

But on Monday, the NBA’s final two-minute report on the contest supported its decision not to call fouls on the action.

After LA’s final loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday, the team also disputed two no-calls at the end of regulation and the end of the first overtime. The next day, the league upheld the first no-call, but said the second call should have been a foul on Christian Wood.

Whether or not the umpires made the right decisions on these plays, the Lakers need to start winning games again to at least give themselves a real shot at getting back into the playoffs.
