Former NFL player Jerel Pow arrested for kidnapping

Former NFL player Jerel Pow has been arrested and charged with kidnapping.

Pow and an accomplice were arrested by law enforcement last Thursday at Chase Bank in Ridgeland, Mississippi, police said.

According to WLBT, the victim was arrested in Laurel, Michigan, but was able to call 911 in Ridgeland.

Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers said the victim was safe.

Investigation is ongoing.

Pau is scheduled to appear at a hearing on Tuesday and is being held without bail at the Madison County Detention Center.

Pow, 35, played defensive tackle for the Ole Miss in college from 2008-2010 and was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2011. Houston he played one season with the Texans as well. He signed with Washington before his 2015 season, but did not make the final roster.

According to a 2017 profile, Pow suffered a number of debilitating injuries after retiring from the NFL, as well as atrial fibrillation and anxiety. At the time, he was returning to Ole Miss to pursue a degree in criminal justice.
