basketball
The Mountain Brook men’s and women’s basketball teams were back on the court last Tuesday night for an area contest against Woodlawn.
The Lady Spartans won 58-24 and the men won 79-56. Ty Davis has made his game a monster in Sparta with his 33 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Julius Clarke had 16 points and five rebounds, and John Colvin had 13 points.
Mountain Brook continued their area play against Shays Valley on Friday night. The Lady Partans lost his 60-49.
The men’s team beat the Mounties 71-44. Davis scored his 1,000th career points and recorded a double-double in the contest. He had 18 points, 10 assists and 5 rebounds. Clark also had 16 points and five rebounds. Colvin had 13 points and 4 boards and Lawson Gardner added 10 points and 3 boards.
wrestling
The Mountain Brook Wrestling Team advanced to the semi-finals of the state dual tournament with two wins last week. The Spartans defeated McAdory his 38-21, followed by Homewood where he won 33-26.
indoor track and field
Mountain Brook’s indoor track and field team competed in the Hump Day Octamete at the Birmingham CrossPlex last Wednesday.
Lucy Benton and Mary Catherine Malone finished first and second in the 800 meters, with Benton winning in 2:15. Reagan Riley won his 1,600m in 4:52 and Kennedy Hamilton won his 3,200m in 11:36. In the men’s race, Davis Lee won the 400m in 49.86 seconds.
