4 Pending free agent Browns shouldn’t re-sign this offseason

Not all of the team’s pending free agents are worth re-signing. Is not … Defensive end Jadevion Clowney is going to be a big name here, especially after his media outburst, even as he apologizes for his comments.

Again, Clowney’s comments were one thing, but his production on the field isn’t even worth what the Browns paid him a year ago. Clowney doesn’t sniff out his $10 million in 2022. Even though he cut costs, he won’t be returning to Cleveland.

Clowney had a productive first year with the Browns when he recorded nine sacks against Myles Garrett, but in 2022 he had only two sacks. attack.

There is no question that Kareem Hunt is losing momentum. His lack of explosiveness in 2022 was noticeable compared to the Browns’ previous seasons. His carry could transition to a fresher leg when the Browns draft Jerome Ford out of Cincinnati in the fifth round of his 2022 NFL Draft.

Despite playing nine more games than a year ago, Hunt only rushed for about 100 more yards on 45 extra carries. For the first time in his career, Hunt’s yards per carry fell below 4 as his production dropped across the board. This is a less-than-ideal ending for a player’s contract who chooses to withdraw his trade request in training camp.

CB Greedy Williams

The Browns drafted cornerback in rising star Martin Emerson Jr. in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Despite trading Troy his Hill for a nickel after the selection, the Browns found little use for the greedy Williams. He even lost the snap to AJ Green in the Cleveland secondary.

Currently set to free agency, Williams’ market should be stable. This is mainly due to the low price tag of previous second round picks. With their cornerback stable still deep, especially with Green set to restricted free agency, there is little point in bringing Williams back.

S. Ronnie Harrison

It came as a shock to begin with that the Browns and Ronnie Harrison agreed to a deal to bring him back in 2022. Needless to say, this will never happen again, as both sides require a full breakup.

Harrison didn’t do particularly well when he stepped between the lines, only seeing the field when the DIME package and injury occurred. He has no range, can’t play man coverage, and is nothing more than a fake linebacker in the modern NFL.

Harrison’s role appears to be diminishing as the Browns search for a new defensive coordinator.
