PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) — Three Philadelphia Phillies players are back on one-year contracts signed hours before the MLB arbitration deadline Friday night. Phils also signed a recently acquired relief pitcher.
These are the deals that the Phillies and players have reached.
- First baseman Rhys Hoskins is back on a $12 million deal.
- Shortstop Edmund Sosa is back on a $950,000 deal.
- Newly Acquired Lefty Relief Gregory Soto signed a $3.9 million deal.
- Left-handed starter Ranger Suarez is back with a $2.95 million deal.
The 29-year-old Hoskins will hit 30 home runs in 2022 and six more in the MLB postseason. Soto is Bullpen includes 8-time All-Star Craig Kimbrel.
Relief Seranthony Dominguez and Jose Alvarado played key roles throughout Phillies’ National League pennant-winning playoff runhas not yet been signed and is eligible for arbitration.
A total of 170 MLB players agreed to contracts on Friday, while another 33 are expected to enter arbitration.
The biggest deals across the league were Padres’ Juan Soto for $23 million and Mets’ Pete Alonso for $14.5 million.
