Report: Red Sox linked to free agent Adam Duvall originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
With shortstop Trevor Story set to miss most, if not all, of the 2023 season, the top priority for the Boston Red Sox is to add a centerfielder and/or outfielder.
Free agency options are down, but there are still a few players who could improve the Red Sox’ current situation ahead of the season opener. According to Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe, Boston is tied with arguably the top outfielder on the market, Adam Duvall.
Tomase: A turbulent week left Red Sox thoughts
Duval, 34, is likely to be replaced by shortstop and utility man Quique Hernandez as the Red Sox’s everyday center fielder. and can play all three outfield positions.
The former All-Star will also bring much-needed strength to Boston’s lineup. In 2021, with the Braves and Miami Marlins, Duvall hit 38 home runs and led the National League with 113 RBIs.
As of now, the projected 2023 Red Sox depth chart has Hernandez playing shortstop and Jaren Duran in the middle.
