The San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors were able to draw an NBA record 68,000 fans to their game at the Alamodome on Friday.
Miami Heat coach Eric Spoelstra recently ditched the idea of doubling it down by hosting an outdoor game in South Florida.
“In the meantime, we have to do something outdoors and pack 100,000 people here in South Florida,” says Spoelstra. “Let’s do it. Make it happen.”
Spoelstra also has venues to host. He said Lawn Depot Park, home of the Miami Marlins, would be the perfect location, the stadium holds 37,000 but has the capacity to add more seats.
“Get the roof, open it up, let’s do it, 100,000,” Spoelstra said. “That’s my call.”
The Heat beat the Milwaukee Bucks 108-102. The two teams will reunite in Miami on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
