It was an offensive blast night in high school basketball, and no one scored more points than Marcus Adams Jr. of Narbonne. He helped the Gauchos win the Marine League opener with an 84-68 victory over San Pedro on Wednesday.
“He was great at all three levels,” said manager Kumase Demesma, referring to scoring, rebounding and defense.
In another impressive attacking display, Damien’s Nate Garcia scored 48 points in an 83-60 win over Chino Hills.
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 78, St. Francis 51: The Big 3 were too much for St Francis in their Mission League win. Dusty Stromer and Caleb Foster each scored 18 points and Mercy Miller scored his 17 points.
Harvard Westlake 63, Crespi 43: Brady Dunlap scored 18 and Jacob Huggins scored 16.
Sierra Canyon 71, Loyola 52: Bronnie James scored 18 points and Ashton Hardaway scored 16 in a 16-3 Sierra Canyon.
Chaminade 67, Bishop Alemany 33: Ethan Johnson had 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Chaminade.
St. John Bosco 63, JSerra 54: Elsey Harrington led the Braves with 17 points.
Santa Margarita 67, Servite 37: The Eagles (18-3, 3-0) relied on Brayden Caiman and Cameron McNamee, who scored 13 points each, to set up a showdown with Mattel Day.
Etiwanda 71, Rancho Cucamonga 45: Jimmy Baker scored 19 points over Etiwanda in their Baseline League win.
La Mirada 61, Dominguez 49: Julian Gomez had 35 points and 20 rebounds for La Mirada.
King/Drew 62, Washington Prep 49: King/Drew may have been forgotten after playing a grueling non-league schedule, but don’t tell the Coliseum League teams about it. Donald Thompson scored 19 points, Jacob Racount scored 18 points, Jayshawn Kibble scored 11 points and Josanne Webster scored 10 points.
Crenshaw 85, View Park 39: King Peterson leads the Cougars (17-1) with 19 points. Jeremiah Blackmon scored 17 points. Crenshaw will play at Washington Prep on Friday.
Cleveland 76, Chatsworth 74: The Cavaliers won their first league game in three years behind Justin Rosenbaum, who finished with 40 points. Chatsworth freshman Alija Arenas scored his 40 points in overtime for West Valley in his league.
Birmingham 59, Granada Hills 46: Tyson Jackson and Cory Blunt scored 10 points each at Birmingham.
Taft 64, El Camino Real 42: Toreadors easily won the West Valley League.
Grant 85, Verdugo Hills 62: Dillin Martin and Jordan Taylor scored 14 points each in their East Valley League victory.
Fairfax 66, Venice 62: Darius Kerr scored 20 points in his Fairfax debut.
