Clemson – ACC’s hottest basketball team just keeps getting hotter.
Clemson played flawlessly on Wednesday night, beating Louisville 83-70 at Littlejohn Coliseum for the first 6-0 ACC start in program history.
He set up a showdown with No. 24 Duke at Littlejohn on Saturday at 5pm. Duke beat the Panthers by his 19 points late on Wednesday, and he won 77-69 against Pitt.
The Tigers (14-3) are on a 10-game winning streak in the ACC regular season, which stretches back to last season and continues to break program records.
Louisville (2-15, 0-6) jumped out to a 16-7 lead, but Clemson responded with an 18-2 run to lead 40-28 by halftime. However, Louisville made a late run and cut it to 6 points in the final two minutes.
Clemson University graduate student Hunter Tyson had five consecutive double-doubles with 28 points and 11 rebounds. He tallied 12 points and 6 rebounds in the first half, reaching 10 rebounds on a missed free throw with about eight minutes remaining.
Tyson, who averages 15.4 points and 10.0 rebounds, could become the first Tigers player to do it all season since Sharon Wright in 1993-94. Tyson’s 31 points and 15 rebounds against North Carolina State were the first for the Tigers since Horace Grant in the 1986-87 season. Hunter has scored in double figures every game, but this season he’s scored one.
Chase Hunter added 13 points and 6 rebounds for Clemson. PJ Hall scored 9 of 10 points in the final five minutes and helped the Tigers stay in front.
